A piece of poetry
Dec. 3rd, 2008 05:47 pmMy daughter's coming birthday is a good occasion to post something of her's. This is a poem about cherry blossoms over the reflective pond in DC, that she wrote for my birthday long ago, when she was 10. So I figured, - if this belongs to me, I can do with it whatever I want to.. for example, brag in my journal.
***
One clear drop falls, the surface breaks
Mesmerizing, gentle waves.
The placid form of the pale moon,
Resurrected very soon.
The many fragments fall in place,
Bringing forth a patterned lace.
She sways in her reflective norm,
Grooves and mounds adorn her form.
A light wind blows, the bough bows down
Adorning her, a blossomed crown.
It is formed, - a deep contrast
Of shadows, that forever last.
P.S. By the way, she is going to be 15 and recently have finished to write a full-blown novel about Japanese warrior village called "Birth of a Kirin".

I don't f....g believe it!! It's amazing coming from a 10-year old! And not just the poetic style and skill but, even more, the contemplative depth of it!!
Is her father a genuis?! Otherwise I can't figure out where it is coming from!! :P:P:P

The sign of a truly smart kid!! She is interested in everything for the sake of discovery, for the sake of intellectual wonder and curiosity in the first place! This is the fantastic time for her!!
